Great story! Disappointed in continued disrespect towards law enforcement. If it hadn’t been for that this would’ve been a 5 star book. It disgusts me that it continued through the book.
  • Didn’t get the point of the story.

If you've seen the movie "The Judge" starring Robert Downey Jr., then chances are, you're familiar with a large part of this books plot. I went into this book with such high hopes, because a lot of my reader friends had read it and enjoyed it. That said, I walked away very, very, very disappointed. The story was way too laborious of a read, which is odd, considering I am a huge fan of classic novels and we all know how those reads go. They make your mind work for the story, but in a good way! A huge issue I had with this book, is that there didn't seem to be a central theme or point to the plot. I can't go into specifics without spoiling it, but, there were way too many subplots and side stories competing for the readers attention. If they all flowed TOGETHER, then it would have been a much better read, in my humble opinion. Instead, when I finished the book, I literally said out loud "what the heck was the point of this story?" Some bits of it were interesting, though and that is why I won't close the door on trying another Karin Slaughter book!

The story was a little too drawn out. The characters could have had more depth. At times I felt like should I continue with this read? I did finish but still felt I unsatisfied. I won’t recommend this book not because it’s a bad story it’s just a little I unchallenging.

I generally devour Karin Slaughter’s books, but not this one. I was unable to bond with any of the fictional characters. The story was not interesting. In fact, I read a couple of other books before I finally went back to finish the Good Daughter. Very disappointed with this book👎🏻

This is the first of Karin Slaughter’s books that I have read. I will not rush to read another. The entire story does not “hang together” very well. Somehow the notion that the two girls who survived an extremely violent rape/murder/ beating etc. could go on to get into college and graduate law school.....well that just doesn’t happen! And much of the rest of the plot was pretty weak as well...there was not much character development anywhere. I got this book because the price was right. I wouldn’t be in a hurry to get another of her books!

The characters were not likable, the story was retold too many times, the personalities were not believable. There were about 40 pages left, unfinished, because it was becoming redundant. Sorry.
